problems and more problems

So I've been pretty lucky when it comes to my insurance covering the surgery and getting a date. Ooh my surgery date is August 29, 2011. Anyways I received a phone call from the nurse one day and she informed menthat the surgeon looked at my colonoscopy results(finally) that I had 2 years prior. I had some inflammation and I wanted to make sure he knew. In my mind I was being a good patient. The nurse informs me I need to have another one! Ick!! The surgeon wont perform the RNY if there is inflammation!! Ugh! So of course I'm completely stressed out.
Well, I had my colonoscopy today and my docotor found inflammation and its very mild and doesn't see why the surgeon can't perform the surgery. So hopefully Thursday I will have good news. I hope that I can still have surgery. My surgeon did dlsay he would perform the lapband procedure if it comes down to it. But I really really don't want that one. So I am thinking happy thoughts!
Total weight loss so far: 18lbs in 3wks

The first step

So I met with the the dietician, the nurse and the behaviorist the first day. This first day is your orientation, you get poked, prodded, measured and weighed. I began that day at 342lbs. Can we say DEPRESSING?! That day I received a gigantic binder filled with tons of information on the procedure, diet, nutrition, and exercise. I also went home with the liquid diet bag. For 2-4 weeks you are on a liquid diet...not everyone does this. The idea is to have your live smaller when they perform surgery. So when I left I was super pumped. I read the whole binder in a few days.
One week later I went back and had a class with the dietician. I also met with a doctor, the surgeon and the nurse. I was weighed and lost 13lbs!! Each week is pretty similar during the pre-op diet. You go in meet with the people and Have lab work.

The beginning to the end

The point of this blog is to share me experience as I go through the process of WLS.
The first time I realized I wanted to have surgery was in may 2011. I went to my first consultation in June 2011. It was free and with about 20 other people. The nurses spokes, the insurance Rep talked and then the surgeon. I was completely interested and determined to have the sleeve operation. They handed out forms to whomever wanted them about the process. That same day I called my insurance. I figured why wait. I was told.there was no way they would cover the sleeve. So they told.me.they would cover the RNY Or the lapband procedure. So I did my research and decided I wanted the RNY. I completed all my paperwork and what not by July 2011. I was called and accepted into the program August 2011. My waiting process was considerably short compared to everyone else. So it began...
